Benjamin Cartier-Bresson, has been heading the Paris office of Berlin Hyp AG since May 2011. Part of the German Savings Banks Finance Group, the bank offers structured finance solutions for commercial real estate in France.

The targeted clientele are experienced, financially strong investors from the private and commercial sectors in Germany and abroad, as well as capital investment companies, housing societies and selected developers and construction companies.

Besides acquisition loans, the bank offers refinancing facilities, development facilities and bridge loans for single assets and portfolios. Hedging products and valuation services are also offered to the clients. While the bank usually acts as arranger, it also takes participations in a selection of key syndicated loans.

Beeing active in property finance for 15 years, Cartier-Bresson has extensive expertise in French and European property lending. His exposure to commercial real estate began with Archon Group in 1999, where he organised the leverage of distressed portfolios owned by the Whitehall funds. In 2004, he took over the French & Benelux CMBS origination desk of Credit Suisse, based in London.

In addition to participating as a panelist at international conferences, Cartier-Bresson is involved in education programmes of business schools and universities, where he serves as a guest lecturer.

Cartier-Bresson studied econometrics at Panthéon-Assas University in Paris, where he completed a master’s degree in statistics and data processing in 1994.
