Sebastian Engelskirchen completed a commercial apprenticeship as a forwarding agent at Kühne und Nagel in Cologne. He then studied economics in Berlin and Potsdam, where he obtained his Master of Science in 2013. He completed a trainee program at the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce with stations in Berlin, Brussels, Heilbronn and San Francisco. From March 2014, he took over the management of the A39 freeway association and the transport policy department at the Lüneburg-Wolfsburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce. From 2015 to 2021, he held various positions at the WirtschaftsVereinigung Metalle (WVMETALLE), most recently as head of the sustainability policy department. In this role, he played a key role in setting up the MARS initiative, which deals with sustainable supply chains in the non-ferrous metals industry. He completed a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) on the side. Since 2021, he has been Managing Director of the Industrial Association for Hot Dip Galvanizing, based in Düsseldorf and Berlin.
