Nick Axford

Nick joined Avison Young in July 2019 as Global Head of Research and was appointed to the company’s Global Executive Committee as Chief Economist in 2022. He has over 30 years’ experience in real estate research and consulting in the private sector, having led teams at UK, European, Asia Pacific and Global level. Based in London, Nick is responsible for Avison Young’s global market analysis and thought leadership activities.

Nick is focused on developing an integrated research platform which leverages the full scope of the organization to deliver high quality applied research on both the occupational and investment property markets. The team’s responsibilities include internal business support, direct client engagement and external marketing and media activities. A confident and energetic public speaker, Nick appears frequently in the media and at leading industry conferences commenting on topical issues relating to the commercial real estate market.

An economic geographer by background, Nick’s academic research focussed on how organisations make location decisions. He maintains a keen interest in all aspects of corporate real estate decision-making and particularly in how the working environment affects individual and collective efficiency and effectiveness. During his academic and professional career, he has lead or participated in numerous projects around the world using qualitative and quantitative techniques to examine investor and occupier approaches to real estate market issues. He has worked with many of the world’s largest real estate occupiers and investors.
