Dr Neil Blake is Head of UK and EMEA Research at CBRE. Neil joined CBRE in the summer of 2012 having previously been Director of Economic Analysis and the consultancy and forecasting company Oxford Economics.
Neil was worked on numerous areas of the application of regional and national economic analysis to property markets. Work has included the 2000 RICS City Office, local demand analysis for planners, studies into the future demand for retail property in the UK for the BRC and BCSC and he led the 2010 IPF Research Foundation’s project team which investigated the inflation hedging properties of property. In 2011, he led a project on the risk-return trade-off in European residential property markets and contributed to the development of an investment strategy for a major Dutch property investor. He has also worked on modelling, forecasting and scenario analysis of the demand for commercial and residential space in Abu Dhabi. Other recent work in the commercial property sphere includes the construction of a series of models of European prime property and UK IPD sectors for a major commercial property agent, the ongoing production of forecasts and participation in the client’s quarterly forecasting process. At Oxford Economics, Neil led the team that produces global city level economic forecasts and he made frequent public speaking and media appearances.
