Maciej Fijałkowski is the Secretary of the City of Warsaw, appointed to this position in 2024 by Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski. He has been associated with the Warsaw City Hall since 2007. Before taking up the position of secretary, he headed the European Funds and Development Policy Department, where for over a dozen years he was responsible for obtaining and accounting for EU funds and for strategic planning of municipal investments. Previously, he worked at the Ministry of Regional Development.

As city secretary, he oversees four key departments: European Funds and Development Policy, Economic Development, IT and Legal. His main tasks include coordinating Warsaw’s investment, economic and innovation policy, developing public transportation, cooperating with partners in Warsaw Metropolitan Area, digitizing municipal services, supervising the legal services, and implementing investment and scientific projects in cooperation with external partners. He manages part of the city budget worth almost 2.5 billion euros.

Maciej Fijałkowski played a key role in the development and implementation of the “#Warszawa2030” development strategy and in supporting the capital’s economic development based on European funds and innovative urban partnerships.
