James Mathias is a Portfolio Manager for real estate debt at PGIM Real Estate, one of the largest non-bank lenders in the world.  PGIM’s European real estate debt platform has invested over €10bn across 10 countries over the last 10 years, offering investors a comprehensive range of investment strategies from senior debt through to high yield, predominantly executed by primary origination from local investment teams across key European markets.

James’s current responsibilities extend across European and global mandates for core and core plus real estate debt.   He has an extensive track record of developing  and implementing a broad range of real estate debt funds and separate account solutions, accounting for over $5.5bn of committed capital, investing throughout the capital stack in Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.  His responsibilities have previously included oversight of investment underwriting for PGIM Real Estate’s European debt and equity transactions and before that he was a real estate securities portfolio manager.

James is a Chartered MCSI and holds the IMC designation from the CFA Society of the UK. He has a bachelor’s degree in politics from Manchester University.  He is a pension trustee for the PGIM UK Pension Scheme, a member of the Urban Land Institute and of PGIM Real Estate’s Inclusion & Leadership Network (ILN).
