Gareth Lewis
Director, Real Estate M&A, PwC
Gareth is a Director in the Real Estate M&A team where he leads a broad range of real estate transactions and advisory work.
Gareth’s 25 years experience across transactions, capital markets, real estate operations, regulation and policy has given him a unique perspective on the global real estate market and the evolving strategies of property companies and institutional investors.
Having originally qualified as a chartered accountant and tax advisor in London and New York, Gareth spent a number of years as a senior executive at the British Property Federation (BPF), European Public Real Association (EPRA) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
As a Director at the BPF, he led an industry initiative to successfully persuade the UK government to introduce REIT legislation. He then spent 5 years at EPRA – based in Amsterdam and Brussels, representing European REITs in their engagements with governments, regulators and investors.
Gareth sits on the PwC Global Real Estate Leadership Board with responsibility for developing PwC’s knowledge and insight relevant to real estate and advises real estate businesses in the development and execution of their real estate strategy. He leads the PwC/ULI Emerging Trends in Real Estate Global and European reports and other PwC real estate thought leadership.
Previous roles also include the GRESB Advisory Board – a market leading ESG data/benchmarking business, and a voluntary role on the Advisory Board of UrbanPlan – an educational program to help young people understand the role real estate plays in reviving and regenerating urban areas
