Erol Riza set up Mithra Capital Advisors, after a banking career of 35 years, to focus on two sectors which have been the core of interest and based on global drivers such as climate change and ageing.
Erol Riza is an international banking and finance professional who gained 35 year’s experience working for international prime banks in London predominantly in debt capital markets. In his capacity as an international arranger of debt financing his experience spans the range of borrowers from financial institutions, private large corporates and state-owned entities as well as central government. The transactions arranged for borrowers range from plain syndicated loans, private placements and structured finance. The geographical distribution of borrowers included most of Europe, North Africa and selected new member states of the EU.
The banking career started as a business developer in senior positions with banks such Tokyo Mitsubishi International, ABN AMRO Bank and DEPFA Bank. Erol Riza left full time banking in 2007 to focus, as an independent advisor, on environment and healthcare infrastructure as a well as real estate and infrastructure finance. The financial crisis in Cyprus in 2013, and bail in of Bank of Cyprus, led to Erol Riza being appointed by the Central Bank of Cyprus, on the board of Bank of Cyprus and subsequently voted as Vice Chairman of the interim board (Head of Board Risk Committee) to implement the stability program of the Eurogroup.
Erol Riza, together with strategic partners in London, Cyprus and selected EU countries is currently working on supporting property owners, developers and professional investors from the EU, the UK, the US and Israel to originate and finance projects that are linked to senior living and the green economy. The sector of senior living of interest is quite broad from independent living, assisted living and housing with care.
