With a background in geography and policymaking Elín has worked over twenty years in UK and Iceland in the field of sustainable economic development in both urban and rural settings.

In the field of community engagement, planning and local governance in the UK, she led research and policymaking at the national level for Urban Forum, and subsequently at the RIBA Building Futures think tank addressing long-term challenges for urban areas.

In Iceland she focused on regional economic planning with a focus on climate change and mitigation. For the past five years Elín has been focusing on airport area development around the KEF International airport in Iceland. In the key role of project director, she is taking the K64 airport area master plan from vision stage to implementation.
