Brian Welsh

Head of Student, Round Hill Capital, United Kingdom

Brian Welsh became Head of Student at Round Hill Capital in 2021, having joined as Chief Executive of The Nido Collection, the Group’s UK, Ireland and Continental European student accommodation investment and operational platform and brand in October 2017.

Brian leads the continuing expansion of Round Hill’s student accommodation business as well as exploring the extension of the brand and operational platform into alternative asset classes. Welsh will be responsible for spearheading Round Hill’s investment, development and operational strategy across the UK, Ireland and Continental Europe and developing the Group’s wider international ambitions. Round Hill has funding already in place to help to support the delivery of its identified pipeline of over 5,000 beds across the UK and Ireland, Portugal, the Netherlands and Spain and the Group is in advanced discussions to deliver on its objective to grow its student accommodation portfolio to at least 20,000 beds by 2020 in these markets.

Brian has over 14 years’ experience of the student accommodation and PRS markets across the UK and Europe, where he has been responsible for the development and management of over 20,000 beds. He joined Round Hill from The Student Housing Company Ltd and its development arm ThreeSixtyDevelopments (formerly Knightsbridge Student Housing Ltd), one of the UK’s fastest-growing Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) companies. As Chief Operating Officer at The Student Housing Company Ltd from January 2011, Welsh was responsible for strategy and leadership of a team which purchased, operated, developed, refurbished, financed and disposed of a total of over 14,000 beds across Spain, the UK and Ireland. Prior to this, from 2005 Welsh was at Liberty Living plc, latterly as Head of Operational Management where he worked with the CEO to integrate a number of previously separate organisations into what became one of the most respected private providers of PBSA.
