Ian is passionate about solving complex urban problems with a particular expertise in the integration of infrastructure with urban growth and regeneration, Ian has served as a global leader of Gensler’s planning and urban design practice for several years.
As Managing Director of Gensler’s London office, Ian oversees projects across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. He maintains a clear focus on implementation, and brings a deep understanding of the various political, commercial and social drivers that influence planning delivery.
Clients value Ian’s ability to develop visionary solutions for some of the world’s most important urban centres. His work on the Thames River Park was recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Mayor of London.
Throughout 2015, he featured in worldwide news following unprecedented interest in Gensler’s award-winning proposal to transform disused Tube tunnels into underground cycle routes – The London Underline (BBC, France TV, CBS News, CNN, The Telegraph, Washington Post and more).
As a regular speaker and panelist both in the UK and at global property conferences, Ian is often called upon to help define the future direction of urban growth and transformation. Ian is joint-founder and the current Chair of the Aldgate Partnership, a business partnership focused on improving the Aldgate district of both Tower Hamlets and the City of London.
